Trip Outline

Day 1 – Arrival, Red Desert Exploration & Sunset

Your experience begins around midday in Wadi Rum Village, where I welcome you to my family home. Before heading into the desert, we take some time to relax together over traditional tea, coffee and a homemade lunch. It is a chance to slow down, enjoy Bedouin hospitality and get a first taste of local life before the adventure begins.

After lunch, we set off on a half-day jeep tour through the spectacular landscapes of Wadi Rum's red desert. Along the way, we explore natural springs, ancient inscriptions, beautiful canyons, sand dunes and some of the most iconic desert scenery in Jordan. There will be opportunities for short walks, photographs and optional sandboarding before we continue deeper into the desert.

Later in the afternoon, I will show you your cave and the surrounding area, giving you time to settle in and choose your favourite place to watch the sunset. After sunset, you are welcome to join us around the fire for a homemade Bedouin dinner. The evening is spent sharing stories, tea and coffee prepared on the fire, traditional hospitality and, on some evenings, Bedouin songs or games beneath a sky full of stars.

Day 2 – Bedouin Women's Workshop & Red Desert Adventure

After a traditional Bedouin breakfast prepared on the fire, we begin the day with a visit to a local women's cooperative in the village. Here you will learn about traditional Bedouin crafts and choose an activity to create yourself. You may weave a keychain from camel or goat hair, paint a ceramic coffee mug or toothbrush holder, or enjoy traditional henna decoration.

For those who wish, there is also an optional opportunity to support a local desert reforestation project by planting a native desert tree and leaving your name beside it as a lasting memory of your visit.

Your handmade items will be completed by the women and prepared for you to take home at the end of your journey.

At lunchtime, you will choose a meal from a local restaurant before heading into the desert to enjoy lunch surrounded by spectacular scenery.

In the afternoon, we continue exploring the red desert with a combination of jeep touring and canyon walks through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Wadi Rum. Returning before sunset, we spend another evening around the fire with homemade food, tea, stories and a peaceful night in the cave.

Day 3 – Bedouin Cooking Experience & Wild Camping

After breakfast, we journey deep into the white desert where the day begins with a hands-on Bedouin cooking experience.

Together with your guide, you will collect desert herbs and firewood, learn about traditional plants used by Bedouins and prepare a traditional lunch on an open fire. This is much more than a meal; it is a cultural experience where you become part of the process.

After lunch, we continue exploring the white desert by jeep and on foot. This region contains some of the most spectacular and remote desert scenery in Jordan, with dramatic rock formations, hidden valleys and beautiful hiking routes far from the usual tourist trails.

Before sunset we return to the cave area where you can relax and enjoy another homemade Bedouin dinner.

Later in the evening, we continue deeper into the desert for a true wild camping experience. Surrounded only by silence, stars and desert landscapes, we spend the night around a small fire sharing tea, stories and one of the most authentic experiences Wadi Rum has to offer.

Day 4 – Camel Journey Through the Western Desert

After breakfast, we begin a full-day camel journey through the western side of Wadi Rum. Each guest will have their own camel, accompanied by an experienced Bedouin camel guide.

Our first destination is Al Qattar Spring, hidden among the mountains and surrounded by beautiful desert scenery. From there, we continue towards Um Alsamn, travelling through remote valleys, narrow canyons and sandstone formations that few visitors experience.

Along the way, we pass through beautiful desert landscapes, discover small arches and explore some of the most peaceful parts of Wadi Rum. Around midday, we stop in a quiet location where lunch is freshly prepared and served in the desert.

Throughout the journey, we share stories about Bedouin life and the important role camels have played for generations. Whenever possible, guests are invited to learn the basics of camel handling, including how to guide a camel, help it sit down and stand up, and better understand these remarkable animals.

In the afternoon, we continue exploring the area between the red and white desert, passing through hidden canyons and spectacular viewpoints before returning to the cave area near sunset.

The evening is spent around the fire with a homemade Bedouin dinner, tea, stories and one final night beneath the stars.

Day 5 – Al Hash Mountain Hike & Farewell

After breakfast, we set off on a guided hike to Al Hash Mountain. Following traditional Bedouin paths, your guide will introduce you to local herbs and plants found in the area.

At the summit, we prepare fresh herbal tea using some of the plants collected during the hike while enjoying panoramic views across the vast desert landscapes of Wadi Rum.

After descending the mountain, we return to Wadi Rum Village where I welcome you once more to my family home for a final lunch, tea and coffee. It is a chance to reflect on the journey, share stories from the past few days and enjoy one last moment of Bedouin hospitality before saying goodbye.

After lunch, I will take you back to your vehicle or onward transport, bringing your desert journey to a close.

More than a tour, this experience is an opportunity to connect with nature, discover authentic Bedouin traditions and experience Wadi Rum in a way that few travellers ever do.
